Gail Klock Memorial Endowment
Who was Gail?
GAIL PATRICIA KLOCK August 30,1947 — March 18,2021
Gail Klock was the first varsity softball coach at Colorado School of Mines. In addition to softball, she coached women's basketball and volleyball while teaching physical education classes from 1980 to 1993. While devoting many years to coaching, teaching, and mentoring at the college level, Gail influenced and inspired countless individuals through her exemplary leadership and guidance in the larger community — significantly impacting young girls through senior women.
In 1993 Gail moved on from the hectic schedule at Mines and taught Gifted and Talented classes at the elementary school level, coached youth sports and varsity high school softball.
After retirement Gail continued her involvement in sports. In 2015 she became a player/coach for the Colorado Peaches Softball club even while battling cancer. In 2020 Gail received the Sportswomen of Colorado 2019 Masters Coach of the Year Award. Following this honor, Denver Post sports writer Mark Kiszla, wrote an amazing article about Gail and her achievements.
